NUO Challenge Ornament #12

Ornament #10 left me feeling cheated, #11 was cute but the mess and awkwardness of it just…eh.  See below for more about them and the final pictures.  On to Ornament #12 Vintage Santa!

This ornament is mix of three different common crafting techniques; juice lids, accordion folded medallions, and vintage images doused in glitter!  Hope you like them!

  • glue
  • hot glue & gun
  • glitter (we used red and clear)
  • vintage Santa images via The Graphics Fairy
  • frozen juice lids
  • accordion folded paper medallions (either vintage book pages or a nice scrapbooking paper)
  • a thin tinsel garland

Go to The Graphics Fairy, print this out, and then cut out all the little Santa's.  Save the bigger ones for another project ( I’m thinking gift tags).

Slather a good helping of glue onto your juice lid, then let your inner glitter goddess get her glitter on.

Go crazy and once your done smack that Santa right into the middle of all that glittery goodness.  ( Sorry I’m watching that Nadia G show…I really dislike it.  It makes me want to talk/write funny.  I wonder if anyone really enjoys watching it or if they’re just too distracted while writing about their glittered Santa ornaments to change the channel?)

While the glue dries, you can make a stack of accordion medallions.  Once everything has dried you just have to assemble.  Glue the glittered Santa juice lid into the middle of the paper medallion using the hot glue gun.

Then, also with the hot glue, put a ring of the garland around your juice lid.  At first I thought this might be too much and it’d look overdone, but I really like!  It’s also a nice punch of red for our tree!025

Okay, Ornament #10…yeah, the metal do-hickeys were not a good idea they didn’t collect any of the crystals so I had a nice crystal mess in my jars this morning.  However, last night when I realized they weren’t working I went ahead and dipped a few ribbons into the water.

Ornament #11, these are pretty cute but they were also something you couldn’t make by yourself or with kids without getting the glue mixture everywhere!  Even with help I had drips all over my table.  Okay, yes, despite it all I still plan on making more of them!
