NUO Challenge Ornament #21 Felt-Challenged

080

Well we’re in the final stretch and I guess now is as good a time as any to admit that I’m felt-challenged.  No matter how hard I try my circles are always off and when I try to correct them I usually make matters worse.  This story has a happy ending though, because this time I managed to create something I’m not afraid to share, felt garland!

Supplies

  • felt (Christmas colors preferable)
  • scissors
  • sewing machine
  • contrasting thread

Directions

Like I said before, I’m the worse at cutting out felt circles but that’s not for a lack of trying.  If your good at them, by all means, show it off!  And if, like me, you’re not, remember it’s  like Huey said, “It’s hip to be square.”

I cut 18 2”x2” squares of green felt and 19 red.  I’m not a very good embroider but my sewing machine can produce a number of lovely stitches so it’s all good.

Starting with the red, pick your favorite stitch and start sewing diagonally across the square.  Once you are near the corner, grab a green square and, as best you can, overlap the corners and keep on sewing.  Repeat the red and green pattern, trim strings, and revel in your craftiness!

And now, for your viewing pleasure…the mess-ups.
