Spooktacular DIY Stamped Candle Holders

Oh my, what a week I've had.

I'm not the kind of person who deals well with drama or those who create it. After many attempts to see the brighter side I finally succumbed and had to cut some ties. It was not a pleasant experience but I feel much freer now and it all goes back to that Maya Angelou saying, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them." Indeed.

You know my favorite way to forget about troubles? Yeah, I craft. I've been on a stamping binge and because it's been a while since my last clay project I thought it was time to mix these two mediums together again. These easy to make Halloween candle holders are simply spooktacular. Even my 17 year old son picked one up and said, incredulously I should add, "You made this?"

Yep, they're that cool. Here's a breakdown of what you need to make your own Halloween Candle Holders!

Supplies
  • Goodwill votive candle holders or you can always pick them up at the dollar store
  • air dry clay
  • Haunted Shack Peel & Stick Stamps from PSA Essentials
  • black acrylic paint
  • paintbrush
Use PSA Essentials Peel & Stick Stamps to create one of a kind stamped DIY Halloween Candle Holders!

Start off by putting an 1/8 inch thick layer of clay on your glass votive until it is covered. I don't know if it matters, but I chose NOT to cover the bottom of the candle holder.

Pick your stamp and press it into the clay where you'd like it. I used those from the Haunted Shack set but PSA Essentials has many to choose from.

When you're pressing be sure not to press around the outside ring of the stamp...or maybe you want to? Ignore me, do whatever you want.

Give the stamped clay a good 24 hours to dry. If you layered it thin enough it should crackle a little, making the design look even creepier!

Once the clay has dried mix a bit of the black paint with water until you create a kind of grey wash. You can also stick with straight black but if you'll look in the picture below you'll notice that you can't really notice it. Plus, it makes it harder to see the stamped design and crackle of the clay.

Add a candle and give your Halloween vignette a ghostly glow with this Spooktacular DIY Stamped Candle Holder.
