Paper Clip and Washi Tape Flowers

#PaperClipFlowers #washitape #flowers #wreath

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - I’m done with the ‘world market’ look we have going on, a girl can take only so many shades of beige, right? Coupled with this post partum funk I’ve been trying to shake, my drab surroundings have left me both drawn to color and eager to find ways to bring more of it into our house.

While playing with a paper clip inspiration struck. With a couple twists and a bit of washi tape I created a quick bouquet of colorful flowers that added a nice punch of color to our front door wreath. I’m sure they could also be used in place of the real thing in a vase or pot, pinned to your favorite spring sweater, or turned into a magnet for the fridge. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

Supplies

  • paperclips
  • washi tape
  • needle nose pliers
  • buttons
  • glue

I started off by bending a handful of paperclips into petal-like shapes. Then I used the pliers (which probably go by another name?) to twist up the ends and bend them perpendicular to the petal.

Once you’ve got the petals made start wrapping them with washi tape.

Bunch them up and use either another paperclip or a bit of tape to hold them together. Once you have them how you want them glue a button in the center.

Because the wreath I was decorating was foam I just stuck the ends of the flowers in, one petal at a time, and secured it with a little bit of hot glue before putting the buttons on.
