#NUO2013 – Christmas Vignette Ornaments

And so it begins…

For the past two Novembers, I’ve dedicated myself and this blog to sharing homemade ornaments that aren’t UGLY! The first year I went on this journey with just one other blogger; last year I recruited an entire month’s worth of guest crafters; and this year I’m switching it up again.

The first week of November I’ll be sharing an ornament every morning and in the evening I’ll recap the works of other creative bloggers taking part in the series! In other words, I’m condensing what would normally take place over a month into one week! Giving you plenty of time to gather supplies, set aside an afternoon, and get crafty well before it’s time to set up your Christmas tree!

Here’s a sneak peek project!
Supplies

• empty jewelry box
• scrapbooking paper
• pipe cleaner
• bead
• glitter glue
• trimmings
• evergreen twig (real or fake)

Directions
To start off line your box with your background paper. I originally used a more ‘wallpaper’ sheet but then switched to this glittered one to add a bit of sparkle.


You could easily use a piece of fake evergreen or go outside and pull off a branch instead. Decorate it with dots of glitter glue.


To create presents steal some of the kid’s Legos and wrap them!


To create a way to hang the ornament cut a hole in the top of the box, thread the bead into the middle of the pipe cleaner, pull the two ends of the pipe cleaner through the hole, give it a twist, and then wrap the ends around themselves to create a loop for hanging.


To pull it all together use hot glue to put everything into place and then feel free to trim the box to give it a more festive feel.
